Kahe Wale - September 2021

KVB Updates

  • The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) informs Kauai motorists that starting Saturday, Sept. 4 at 5:30 p.m., public access will expand for Kuhio Highway (Route 560) at mile marker 1 (“Hanalei Hill”). Continue to refer to https://hidot.hawaii.gov/2021-hanalei-hill-landslide/ for the most current schedule.

  • The Fresh Shave, which offers all–natural shave ice for a healthier alternative to Hawaii’s most famous treat, is now located in a storefront in Koloa. Formerly serving their tasty treats from a food truck, they recently opened a permanent location so shave ice-lovers can always find them. As always, they are still cranking their ice by hand and making homemade syrups assuring that each shave ice treat is truly handcrafted. Learn More Here ►
  • If you are going through the Lihue airport, be sure to make time to stop and check out the new displays in honor of Queen Liliuokalani’s birthday. The Garden Island Art Council (GIAC) has installed two displays in the concourses of Lihue Airport. The cases on the United end of the concourse shares images and narratives about the Queen’s life and legacy; the one on the Hawaiian Airlines end of the concourse shares images about her visit to Kauai with the Royal Hawaiian Band members. Puni Patrick has set up a website, www.queenliliu.com, with narratives and details. The website is also accessible by clicking on the QR code below.
