Happy Earth Day! A huge mahalo to the American Association of Geographers (AAG)! These dedicated conference attendees spent their Sunday volunteering at Magic Island's "Dive for Earth Day" cleanup, removing tons of trash and showing their love for Hawaiʻi. Their commitment goes beyond a clean beach: The AAG, along with HVCB and National Conference on Race and Ethnicity, also presented Kanu Hawai'i with a $20,000 grant. These funds will expand volunteer opportunities beyond the Mālama Hawai'i Volunteer Dashboard (gohawaii.com/mālama), allowing even more visitors to connect with local communities and give back. Working with the Hawai'i Tourism Authority, HVCB managed the creation of the Mālama Hawai‘i Volunteer Dashboard with Kanu Hawaii in a clear move toward managing tourism’s impact on our environment. Let's all do our part to make Hawai'i a better place! Pick up trash, volunteer your time, or simply pledge to be a responsible visitor. March 26th is the day Hawai‘i celebrates the life and memory of Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalanianaʻole. We celebrate and honor the birthday of Hawai‘i’s second delegate to Congress, affectionately known as “Prince Cupid” because of his cherubic facade.
